Irish Stew with Stout

Ingredients

  • 1 kg topside steak, cut in chunks
  • 1 tbsp rice bran oil
  • 1 kg sliced onions
  • 2 large carrots sliced
  • 2 sliced parsnips
  • ½ litre beef stock
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • small bottle of stout
  • 1 cup suprise peas
  • 3 cloves garlic sliced
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • zest of an orange
  • 2 tbsp dark molasses
  • SIDS SALT & PEPPER to season
  • 2 tbsp SIDS HOT WORCESTER SAUCE

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 170oC. Marinate meat in SIDS HOT WORCESTER SAUCE for 15 minutes.
    Coat meat in flour then, in batches, quickly fry on both sides. Transfer meat to a cooking dish and add all other ingredients with
    beef stock
     to dish. Cook in oven for 2 hours. If necessary, thicken with a little cornflour mixed with water. Season with SIDS SALT & PEPPER.
    Serve with mashed potato.
