Garden Fresh Tomato Soup


  • 4 cups chopped fresh tomatoes
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp NZ butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp SIDS SALT & PEPPER
  • 2 tsp white sugar, to taste


  1. In a stockpot, combine the tomatoes, onion, cloves and chicken stock. Bring to a gentle boil for about 20 minutes to blend all of the flavours. Remove from heat and run the mixture through a food processor into a large bowl, or pan.
    In the now empty stockpot, melt the butter. Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking until the roux is a medium brown. Gradually whisk in a bit of the tomato mixture, so that no lumps form, then stir in the rest. Season with sugar and
    SIDS SALT & PEPPER and adjust to taste.
