  1. One of the earliest used herbs, it's use has been dated back to the Early Bronze Age. Seeds were found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. All parts of the plant are used and each has it's own distinctive flavour. Leaves have a faint anise taste. Seeds are sweet with orange peel tones and the root is widely used in Asian cooking. An essential ingredient in Indian curries.
