Beef Kushiyaki

Ingredients

  • 2½ tbsp mirin
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ¼ cup Japanese soy sauce
  • ½ tsp SIDS CRAZY SALT
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 500 g sirloin steak, cut paper-thin
  • 3 shallots, sliced
  • bamboo skewers

Directions

  1. Place skewers in water to soak. In a bowl, mix the mirin, garlic, soy sauce, sugar and SIDS CRAZY SALT. Stir to dissolve the sugar then place the beef and shallots into the marinade for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven's top element and set the oven rack to 150 mm from the heat source.
    Roll a slice of thin beef around a shallot and skewer the roll with 2 bamboo skewers about 12 mm apart. Repeat twice more, placing 3 rolls onto 2 skewers. Repeat until ingredients are all used then place the skewers on an oven dish and cook until brown, about 3 minutes per side.
